Which printer is better for a college student?

Epson Stylus NX415

or the HP C4860

Not sure which one to take… the hp is cheaper (since it comes with ink). I need to know which one gives the best quality photo prints and which has cheaper or longer lasting ink. Also which one has a memory card slot for direct photo printing?

I prefer HP C4860. The strength of the C4680 is its simple interface, color text printing, 4×6 photo printing and its low initial price, making it a good choice for the college dorm room. But for the home office or the amateur who wants to make nice prints, it’s still behind the quality of its Canon and Kodak competitors.

I’ve never owned an Epson printer. HP printers (laser) have never failed me. I also like Konica Minolta.

I think HP makes great printers. I’ve had one for 2 years and it works great (it’s an ink jet though). As long as you remember to set the printer on draft mode and use print preview, you can go a long time without having to get more ink.The quality is great, especially when printing pictures. One word of advice–don’t use refills unless you really have to. HP ones don’t seem to like those too much.

The HP C4860 seems to be a dependable printer.

I pesonally like HP printers for one simple fact. They work, provide quality prints and seem to be dependable long term.

I see one blog response regarding replacement ink for the printer. They recomend not using a replacement ink that is not new. This is usually true. But not always. EnviroTone Imaging supplies replacement inkjet cartridges and the quality is the same as new.

You can contact Randall direct and get prices. Happy shopping.

Definitely the Epson for a better warranty and cheap (even free) ink.
The best warranty in the industry. For a year, Epson will fedex a replacement and pick up the old one should you need it.

You can get 11 free cartridges every month for Epsons which each hold about triple the ink of Epson cartridges. This does not involve joining a club or mail-in rebates or committing to any other offer. Here are the details: http://www.ccs-digital.com/freeink.asp

Epson is the best, been using them for over 10 years. The best warranty in the industry [1 year Exchange with Free S&H], good tech support. Here’s the best part: Get a CISS for your printer. It will save you TONS of MONEY, never change a cartridge again and it will pay for itself in a month.
